Goats -- They're Good for You!
Goats are one of the fastest growing US agricultural industries.
In fact, goat meat is the most highly consumed meat in the world, and
it generates a welcome profit. Not only are goats smart agriculturally,
but they make sense economically and have many diverse uses -- from
meat, milk and cheese to a biological herbicide for controlling undesirable
plants and shrubs.
We're Cliff and Marilyn Burke and we've been raising
and breeding goats for the past three years on our beautiful farm in Oakland,
Oregon (nestled in-between Roseburg and Eugene). We're proud to say
that we have the largest herd in the Pacific
Northwest of full-blood Boer goats.
How Good Is It?
Goat meat is delicious! It's similar to lamb in texture and taste.
And it's much healthier than lamb, beef, pork or
chicken.
Why We Love What We Do
Some people may think that raising goats is easy -- just turn 'em
loose and let them eat everything from tin-cans to shoe leather.
Not so. We pride ourselves on our land management and nutrition
program. Our land and goats are healthy and happy. We love our
land, we love our goats, and we love what we do. |
